EMpulse

The street VND rate for businesses in Vietnam, by API

EMpulse publishes the dong rate people actually pay against the US dollar, next to the official figure, so your finance team can work from both.

Today's street rate for the dong

As of 2026-10-28, the street rate for the US dollar in Vietnam is 25,812 VND per USD, according to the EMpulse Street FX Index (3 sources, confidence medium).

The task: know what the dong really costs

If you import, pay overseas suppliers, price in dollars or hold dollar balances, the official rate is only one input. The rate you actually pay can sit above or below it, and the gap changes from week to week. Finance teams need that gap as a number they can log, compare against their own quotes and look back on, not a rumour or a screenshot from a chat group.

How the index answers it

The index shows today's street VND rate against the US dollar and USDT, with a confidence class and the number of sources behind every figure. It is built from transaction-based market data and quotes from independent public market sources. You can read it on the website, or pull it into your ERP, spreadsheet or pricing tool through the API, and use the history to see how the premium over the official rate has moved.

Questions from finance and operations teams

What is the street rate, and how does it differ from the official rate?
The street rate is the rate at which dong is actually exchanged for dollars outside the official channel. The index shows it next to the official figure, so the premium or discount is visible instead of guessed.
How do I know how much to trust a figure?
Every figure carries a confidence class and the number of sources behind it. A figure with few sources is labelled as such, so you can decide how much weight to give it.
Where does the data come from?
From transaction-based market data and quotes from independent public market sources. The methodology page explains how they are combined into one figure.
Can I get the rate into my own systems?
Yes. The API returns the same figure shown on the site. Start with a free key, and move to Starter or Pro when you need fresher updates, more history or higher limits. The plans below list the differences.
Is this financial advice?
No. The index is reference information about a market rate. It does not tell you when or whether to exchange money.

General index methodology: /methodology. Not investment advice.
