FX Rate Stack: official, interbank, bank, customs, card and street rates side by side
Every rate a dollar has in a country, on one day and in one answer: the official rate, the interbank rate, what banks quote, the customs rate duties are computed at, what international cards settle at and the street rate — each with its publication day, the number of sources and a confidence class, the gap between every rung and the street, the width of the ladder, its 7- and 30-day trend and a signal when the ladder widens.
Importers and exporters pricing contracts and duties, treasury teams choosing the rate for a settlement, customs brokers, payment and payout companies explaining a rate to a client, funds and analysts reading convertibility stress from the spread between the rungs.
According to the EMpulse FX Rate Stack, on 2026-10-26 the street rate of the US dollar in Egypt was 53.72 EGP.

Methodology
FX Rate Stack
- Tiers —
official (the central bank), interbank (the currency exchange or the central bank's trading summary), bank (the buy / sell boards banks publish; the rung is their mid), customs (the rate duties, cross-border contracts and import VAT are computed at: customs service, ministry of finance or a separate central-bank publication), card (the public calculators of the card schemes, only where their terms allow reading) and street (the EMpulse Street FX Index mid). Rates are local currency per 1 USD; USDT counts as 1 US dollar.
- Sources — every rung is built from sources that passed the licence check (class A–D; class-E sources are never used): the per-source rows are kept per currency × tier × day. When three or more sources quote a tier, a source further than 10% from their median is dropped; the rung is the median of the rest.
- Validity — a publication stays in force until the next one, at most
carry_days of its tier: official, interbank and card 4 days, bank 3 days, customs 35 days (a monthly rate covers its month). *_day fields show the publication day. A tier the country does not publish on its own is an alias (same_as): its rung repeats the referenced tier and says so.
- Confidence per rung —
high when two or more sources agree within 2%; medium with one source of class A–B or several sources further apart; limited with one source of class C–D. A rung older than its tier's freshness (official, interbank, card 2 days; bank 1 day; customs 31 days) is one class lower. The day's confidence is the lowest among its rungs.
- Gaps —
gap_<tier>_street = (street / tier − 1) × 100: positive when the street pays more local currency per dollar than the tier. gap_prev_pct in the ladder compares a rung with the one below it; width_pct = (highest rung / lowest rung − 1) × 100.
- Trends —
width_7d_avg and width_30d_avg are means over the days that have a row; width_chg_7d_pp / width_chg_30d_pp compare the width with the row 7 / 30 days earlier (within 3 days); the 7-day means of the official and customs gaps the same way.
- Widening —
watch when the width is at least 1.5× its own 30-day mean and at least 0.5 points above it, alert at 2×; needs 10 days of history and at least two rungs. The same width feeds FX Stress Signals as one more rule (its 1-year 90th percentile and 2× the 30-day median).
- Days are UTC; the last 120 days are recomputed on every load. The free level is one day behind; public bodies are named on their rung, banks and card schemes appear as
sources: N and a class. Not investment advice.
