Sources and licences

Methodology

Official vs Street

  • official — the central bank's official USD rate for the day, fiat per 1 USD, from a class-B source (open licence with attribution). Central banks publish on business days; a rate stays in force until the next publication, so for weekends and holidays the last published rate is carried forward for at most 4 days (official_day shows the publication day). Days without an official rate within 4 days have no row.
  • street_mid — the EMpulse Street FX Index mid for the same UTC day (see the index methodology); days with flag = outlier or without a valid mid are skipped.
  • premium_pct = (street_mid / official − 1) × 100. Positive: the street pays more fiat per dollar than the official rate implies. USDT is treated as 1 USD; the stablecoin's own small deviations from the dollar are part of the measured premium.
  • premium_7d_avg — arithmetic mean of premium_pct over the last 7 calendar days including the day; premium_30d_max — the maximum over the last 30 calendar days. Both use the days that have a row.
  • Sources per currency: UAH — National Bank of Ukraine (open data, CC-like terms, attribution); KZT — National Bank of Kazakhstan (data licence, attribution); INR, TRY — ECB euro reference rates crossed through USD/EUR of the same day (ECB copyright policy: reproduction with attribution). A currency appears only when its official source has passed the licence check (class A–D); class-E sources are never used.
  • Revisions: the street side is recalculated with every data load (see the index methodology); official rates are re-pulled for the last 7 days on every load.

General index methodology: /methodology. Not investment advice.
