Street Rate Index — multi-source
Street rates aggregated from many independent market sources with a confidence score: the dollar rate for naira, shilling, cedi, rial, bolívar and more, measured from what exchangers and local publishers post in the open and weighted by how reliable each source has proven to be.
Remittance and payout teams pricing corridors without a liquid market reference, OTC desks, funds and analysts following parallel rates, newsrooms that need a number with a method behind it.

Sources and licences
- EMpulse multi-source street index: rate quotes collected from public market sources (exchangers' public channels, publishers' rate pages, forums); every quote keeps the link to its source — class A: EMpulse data: a published exchange rate is a fact, not a work; we store the number, the time and the link, never the text. Sources whose robots.txt or terms forbid access are not read.
- EMpulse Street FX Index (transaction-based reference used to calibrate sources) — class A: EMpulse data
Methodology
Street Rate Index — multi-source
- A quote is one number from one public post: the quoted currency, the base (USD, USDT counted as USD, or
EUR kept apart), the side, the rate, the time of the post and the link to it. Text is not stored for
publication; a snippet of at most 200 characters around the number is kept for audit only.
- Side convention.
side is the client's action, as in the index: a client buys USD at the exchanger's
selling price (the higher number) and sells USD at the exchanger's buying price. Posts that label the sides
the other way round are swapped and marked with a lower confidence.
- Extraction. Regular expressions for the common formats first ("USD 1650/1665", "Покупка: 11810 / Продажа:
11860", "$ = ₦1,650", "1 USDT = 41.25 TRY", "Dolar: 49,72", Dari / Arabic / Urdu / Bengali / Persian forms);
posts with a currency word and a number but no match go to a language model in batches, as data, and every
returned number is validated again. Official, central-bank, exchange-listed and forecast lines are skipped.
- Plausible range. Per currency: the transaction-based reference, otherwise the median of recent quotes,
otherwise a seed value, ± 60 %. Numbers outside the range are kept as outliers and never enter the index.
- Source trust (
reliability, 0–1, recomputed daily over 30 days): accuracy against the reference (the
transaction-based reference of the same day where one exists, the leave-one-out median of the other sources
otherwise), share of outliers, within-day stability and regularity; 0.5·accuracy + 0.2·(1 − outliers) +
0.15·stability + 0.15·regularity. New sources start at 0.3; three days below 0.2 pause a source.
- The day.
mid is the reliability-weighted median of quote mids, buy / sell of the respective quotes.
A day is published only with ≥ 3 quotes from ≥ 2 sources; otherwise there is no row. confidence is a
0–1 score, confidence_class its reading: high, medium or limited (fewer sources).
- Limitations. Posts are what sources chose to publish; a source may be late, wrong or promotional, which
is what the trust score is for. Coverage per currency is in
n_sources; check confidence_class before
using a value. Not investment advice.
