EMpulse

The street rate of the Pakistani rupee, as a number your business can use

EMpulse publishes the rate people actually pay for dollars in Pakistan, next to the official rate, with a confidence class and a source count on every figure.

Today's street rate

As of 2026-10-29, the street rate for the US dollar in Pakistan is 280.6 PKR per USD, according to the EMpulse Street FX Index (4 sources, confidence high).

The task: pricing and paying when the rupee has two rates

If you import, export, run a software house or pay suppliers abroad, the rate on the bank screen and the rate you pay to get dollars are often not the same. Someone on your team checks the open market by hand, pastes it into a sheet, and nobody can say which figure was used for last month's invoice. You need one reference rate, the gap to the official rate, and a history you can point to.

How the index helps

The index shows today's street rate for PKR against the US dollar and USDT, built from transaction-based market data and quotes from independent public market sources. Every figure carries a confidence class and the number of sources behind it, so you can see how firm it is before you rely on it. Pull the rate and the premium over the official rate through the API into your pricing sheet, ERP or invoicing tool, and keep the history for reconciliation.

Questions from finance and operations teams

What is the street rate?
It is the rate at which people actually buy and sell dollars on the open market, as opposed to the official rate set through the banking system. EMpulse tracks it for the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar and USDT.
How is the index built?
From transaction-based market data and quotes from independent public market sources. Each figure shows a confidence class and how many sources stand behind it.
What does the confidence class tell me?
It tells you how well supported the figure is right now. A figure with a lower class or fewer sources should be treated with more caution in contracts and pricing.
Can I get the rate and its history by API?
Yes. A free key gives you access to the core feed with a one-day delay. Starter and Pro plans add fresher data, longer history and higher limits, as listed in the plans below.
Is this financial advice?
No. The index is a reference figure for pricing, budgeting and reconciliation. It does not tell you when to buy or sell any currency.
