The task: pricing and paying in XAF when the official rate is not the rate you pay

If you import goods, pay suppliers abroad or invoice in dollars from Cameroon, Gabon, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea or the Central African Republic, the official rate is only part of the story. The rate you actually pay to get dollars can sit well away from it. Your price lists, margins and reconciliations need one clear reference, with its history, and not a guess taken from a chat message.

How the index solves it

The EMpulse index shows the street rate of XAF against the dollar and USDT, built from transaction-based market data and quotes from independent public market sources. Every figure carries a confidence class and the number of sources behind it, so you know how far to rely on it. Pull the rate and its history into your pricing tool, spreadsheet or accounting system with an API key, and track the premium over the official rate.

Questions from businesses

What is the street rate?
It is the rate at which people actually exchange XAF for US dollars or USDT in the market, as opposed to the official or bank rate.
Why does it differ from the official rate?
Access to foreign currency, demand and local conditions can pull the market rate away from the official one. The index shows that gap, so you can see the premium.
How reliable is each figure?
Every figure is published with a confidence class and the number of sources. A figure with few sources or low confidence is labelled as such.
How do I start?
Request a free API key, test the rate in your own tools, and move to Starter or Pro on the plans below when you need fresher data, more history or more requests.
Is this investment advice?
No. The index is reference information for pricing, invoicing and reconciliation, not a recommendation to buy or sell any currency.
